Bio-inspired injectable bone glue (WIN-CEITEC)

Synthesis, modification, and ex-vivo bone-to-bone adhesion testing

The main goal of the one-year project is to establish cooperation between CEITEC and the University of Waterloo in Canada. The project’s overall objective is to synthesize and modify biodegradable synthetic polymers by natural bioadhesive and set the adhesion measurement methodology and procedure for the given type of material. Knowing the degree of adhesion is important in terms of ensuring proper fixation of bone fragments or bones and subsequent successful treatment of the fracture. The project aims to synthesize and modify Biodegradable synthetic polymers, prepare injectable “self-hardening” ceramic cement, and determine the degree of adhesion to the bone.
